In New York City, the Black Lab Café invites both pet dogs and their humans, as they feature menus that are both dog- and human-friendly.

It’s also the first of its kind in the city, where dogs can go inside without a leash.

The owners of this furry-friendly spot are brothers Nikolas and Kristoffer Powers. They own two black Labrador Retriever dogs named Daisy and Lola; their dogs’ color and breed serve as the inspiration for the café’s name.

The boys’ mother, Lise Evans, also co-owns the place.

They said that they aren’t the type to leave their dogs behind, especially in busy New York, hence the business idea where dogs and their owners can hang out together.

The owners also assure dog owners that their furry pets can be taken off their leashes and interact with fellow dogs inside the café.

Initially selling natural dog food products in 2020, the Powers brothers decided to branch out to the bustling café market, and opened the Black Lab Café in April of 2022.
