When Jack, an elderly canine, first arrived at the Gloucester-Mathews Humane Society in Virginia, he exuded profound fear and despondency. His sorrow was palpable as he tucked his face into the corner of his kennel.
The Gloucester-Mathews Humane Society reported that Jack consistently retreats to the corner upon their entry into his kennel, prompting them to lift him up. They also observed that he perks up a bit when taken outdoors.
After spending a month at the shelter, Susie’s Senior Dogs took the initiative to secure a forever home for Jack. In a Facebook post, they highlighted that despite his fear of the shelter, Jack has never displayed any aggression towards volunteers or staff.
They also expressed their desire to find a permanent home for him, as they are devastated by the thought of him enduring a lifetime of loneliness.
Fortunately, Susie’s Senior Dogs received numerous inquiries about Jack, who is afflicted with heartworm, bad hips, and pre-renal kidney disease. Fortunately, a kind young woman visited the shelter to meet Jack, bringing along her canine companion.
The meeting was wonderful, as the woman quickly fell in love with Jack, who reciprocated her warmth. Inspired by their connection, she decided to welcome him into her home alongside her other companions. What a delightful happy ending!
